To the Photos from last friday cpu upgrading program!
Ok started working at about 6pm after returning home, i screwed up right at the start! Sorta broke my thumbnails while trying to pull the mini vaccum cleaner accessories out with a screw driver... *cries* pain! wasted some precious blood which the blood bank refuses to accept! grrr! Cant really see the blood on my thumb though but blood did flow as i continued to work...
Ok, a look at my before system... with my E6600 and Striker Extreme installed already... but i still gotta "pull" them all out for better cable management... Duh!
Firstly! Clean and remove the mesh for my intake fans at the back of casing. See the dust on them, though the fans had only been operating for a month nia... puke!
Solutions for dusty fans... Got the meshes replaced with more efficient ones i found at sim lim towers... looks cool huh...
Clean the fans, fixed the meshes... ta dah! Final results! Swee...
Internally put some boh liao internal uv dragon filters... which sort of overlapped each other.. crap!
Exhaust fans at the top of the casing and hdd region (not shown) replace by UV AC Ryan ones as well but these horrible fans are spinning at 2000 rpm each @23 dba which resulted in a humming sound... My solution was to get a fan controller (shown later)...
The first monster, tuniq cooling tower which was in shortage world wide because of its great efficiency in dissipating the heat, got it from someone from the forums, first hand somemore keke...
Ok the results after scrubbing with sand paper and polishing with autosol... Look at it shine and reflect... Why do this? Read from forums with a shiny and clean surface, this would improve the heat transfer efficiency, never heard of this although i am a mech engineer myself, so monkey see monkey do loh!
Ok removal of heatsink from my striker another monster 2! Gotta clean up the thermal paste on the cpu and apply a new coat...
Monster 1 tuniq on monster 2 striker! Installation was a breeze woo hoo... :)
Assembly in the casing with wires here and there...
Cable management! Hiding cables at the back of the mobo tray...
Monster 3, 2GB Gskill ddr2 ram with D9 chips also rare stuff... ho ho ho...
Black heat spreaders on them, aren't they gorgeous? cooolll....
Finally rams, graphic card, sound card, ide controller card all fall in!
A look from the front with my new fan controller, Gate watch from Aero cool which controls the fans speed...
Hehe... The above set up was finished in 6 and a half hours... At about 2am then started testing of system... System up, running flawlessly! But its not the end of story. I had found out i could not put in my ethernet connector, the back plate got stuck with the mobo. I gotta take out out mobo again and position properly. Start pc, no graphics. Take out graphics card, reposition. Then no sound! Reposition sound card! Finally everything swee swee and the time is swee too almost could hear birds chipping, its 3 plus in the morning... Bery bery long never so enthusiatic in doing something liao but it was worth the effort... (will update more pics when uv system is ready, now not really ready yet...)
Meddling with overclocking yesterday nite and results are as below...
